First Black President
The big presidential election was on November 4, 2008. Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain both ran for office at the White House. This election was the biggest phenomenon in presidential election history. I became part of history because my voice was heard as I exercised my right to vote for democratic senator Barack Obama. Barack Obama made history by being the first black candidate to be nominated in either party. To be a good president you have to have honesty, integrity, intelligence, leadership, judgement, and patriotism. Obama possesses these qualities and that is what made him stand out to me. Race or color doesn't affect this election just because he's an African American. He won the elcetion and made history as being the first African American to serve as president. He became the 44th president of the United States. I didn't vote for him just because he's a black man, but because of what changes he intends to do for our country. Right now, the United States is in a recession. Foreclosure is at a record high, gas prices are as high as ever before, people can barely afford food on their tables, and college tuitions has skyrocketed. This affects the middle class such as my family. I think Obama stands for all races and will make change for everyone
